”Hi Adam,“ she said cheerfully. I replied to the same effect. What is this?? I asked myself. I walked to my drama director, Mrs. Leskovar’s, room. Unchanged it seemed, as if I had never left. I talked with her a while.

”Practice is at six tonight, and we’re going to ten.“ Practice? Practice for what? I thought. ”You know, The Music Man? Come on, I need at least one of the members of the quintet here tonight.“ I said I would be there. There was an awful sound that came over the speakers. That was the bell. I headed for the auditorium where I ran into Mr. Rinaldi.

”Hey, why don’t you watch where you’re goin’, you conservative, socialist, fascist pig.“ He said, with a smile on his face. I, not wishing a confrontation, continued to go into the auditorium and find my seat. Mr. Fox came down and hooked up a microphone. A tremendous feedback loop followed. Matt came up to do announcements. He read something about the prom and other social issues, then he turned and addressed me.

”I bet you wonder what you’re doing here, don’t you?“

”Huh?“ I responded, looking for the person he was addressing.

”You, Mister Adam C. Well I’ll tell you. Tricia is somewhere here, in your past. You must find her to leave. Don’t worry, most of the people and things will be the same as your junior year in high school. Good luck, you’re going to need it.“ Great. Stuck in my own past trying to find a girl from the future.

I went to my first period class. There we learned about Force and Inertia. Gym was really fun. Yeah right, Coach fun? Get real. Period three I went to Health and discussed the human body parts. Great, just what I wanted to hear. Period four was Chorus. I went in and found Mr. Vogel and the whole crew getting ready for the Christmas Concert. I joined them and got complimented on my voice. I had gone to voice school the years to follow and had advanced very well. I ate lunch next, having to meanwhile endure the horrible creations of Jason Woolver. The rest of the day was a breeze, until ninth period.

I went to the Business area to get out of Study Hall with Miss Kinney. Heidi Wauffle, my old enemy, came up, pinched me, and said ‘how sexy I looked today.’ That’s all I could take. I left. After school was practice, which kept me busy all night. The same thing happened each day, for the rest of the week. I had no progress in finding Tricia.

Sitting at home Saturday night I had an idea. I called up the Tricia of that time period, at her old home. I told her, that at no cost was she to go and work at a museum at a place called Nanopolis. Expecting that this would instantly free me from this blast from the past, I was disappointed. I heard Matt’s voice say, ”Oh, no you don’t. Unfortunately for you, she forgets all about your warning, and this time loop continues. For your information it is Tuesday. Tomorrow’s Noah’s wedding. You can still make it if you can find the Tricia of the correct time period. I’ll give you one hint. It might make it a bit easier if there was only one Tricia to look for!“

That gave me an idea. The next day, Sunday, I went to church during the early service. Noah was there, the Noah of that period, and I convinced him to help me. ”I don’t know, Adam. It sure looks like you like her to me.“

”Will you just be quiet. All I want to do is kidnap her for a little while, that’s all.“
