”When you had gone into the third level of the game, it had given Matt and Noelle enough time to manufacture a clone of both of you, and to place the clones where you would be. I was completely fooled, at first, and went on with my marriage and honeymoon. I returned Monday as planned. When I got home, I called your clone at the office, ‘Hello, Adam?’
‘No, this is Tricia, would you like me to get Adam?’
‘Yes, please.’ Tricia, the clone, got your clone on the phone.
‘Hello?’
‘Hey, it’s me! What’s up?’
‘Not much, How was the honeymoon?’
‘It was. . .well. . .well, you know how it is. Wait a minute. . .no you don’t. You can’t even tell when a girl likes you!’
’Yeah, and what is that supposed to mean? That there is a girl that does? Anyway, while you were out, Matt and Noelle returned the Palette, the nice people. So, that case is solved, and. . .wait a minute. . . there’s someone here. I’ll pay you a visit tonight, if that’s all right.’
‘Uhh, yeah, okay. I should be home. Bring Tricia over. . .hint hint. . .to talk to Laura. We can have dinner, around sevenish.“ I said jokingly, but I didn’t quite understand your lack of enthusiasm.
‘What does ‘hint hint’ mean?’
‘Never mind. Just come over, okay?’ I said, becoming a bit confused and suspicious.
‘Fine, seven o’clock, with or without Tricia?’
‘With Tricia,’ I couldn’t believe his memory was so short, ‘Now didn’t you say someone was there?’
’Oh yeah, right!’ Your clone hung up without saying good-bye. At seven the two clones went to Laura and I’s house. After we asked them in, we went to the table and ate supper. While we were in the middle of the vegetables, when your clone asked, ‘How was the honeymoon?’
’Adam, you already asked that!’
’Oh.’
’Yeah, okay there buddy. I think you’ve been to much V-Ball. It’s turning your brain to mush. You need a real game, like B-Ball.’ I said, teasing him.
’Baseball?,’ he asked.
’Yeah, that’s it Adam. Baseball. You know I love the Yankees. I play it all the time. It’s a lot more fun than that dumb beach game. Which reminds me, would you like to go to the beach tomorrow?’ I said, trying to figure out what was wrong. I began playing a game with him.
’Didn’t you just get back from your honeymoon in California?’
’Yeah, but we were in the Sierras, not in L.A..’
’Oh, I thought you went to L.A.. Still, why would you want to leave home so soon after getting home?’
