“Well I guess we could make a game out of it.” My wife said.
“How?” I asked my wife.
“Well, we could split up, seeing we have walkie talkies, and see who can make it to the top first.”
“Now that’s an idea.” Noah said.
“And just to make it more interesting, if your spotted, you must wait five minutes where you are.” Jenn said.
“But how will we know if we’re spotted?” Marie asked.
“If you spot someone shout, ‘I see you.’” My wife said.
We agreed and split up, and I went strait ahead, up the mountain. As I was walking I got a message over my walkie talkie, it was between Andy and Marie. They changed to a different frequency, the same one I had tuned to.
“Marie?”
“Yes Andy?”
“Where are you?”
“Over here!”
“Over where?” She proceeded to give Andy directions. I went to the location, and yelled, “I SEE YOU!,” and they stood still. I continued until I heard a noise in front of me. Crouching behind bush I saw my wife pass me. I climbed a tree, following her. She stopped. I jumped and surprised her.
“Oh! For a minute there, I thought you were one of the others.” She said.
“Why is that so bad, wouldn’t I call . . .” She covered my mouth.
“You’d better not! Unless you want to sleep on the floor!”
“I ran into Andy and Marie a little while back, I got them.”
“Good. It looks like we’re teaming up. Let’s get Noah and Jenn.”
“By now they’re probably at the finish.”
“Then we’ll have to move quickly.” She said. We broke into a run. She tripped and fell on her knee.
“Are you okay?”
“I’ll live, if that’s what you mean.”
“How will we win?”
“You’ll just have to carry me.”
“Carry you! You expect me to be like some Wesley in The Princess’ Bride!?”
“Well, if you want to win!”
“I have a better idea!”
“What’s that?”
“Let’s go back to the delivery area and surprise them when they get back.”
“Now there’s a plan.” She said. I carried her through a lot of brush. When we got to the location we had decided on for camp, I made some traps. We then hid in order to see them when they got back. They came, fell into the pit, walked into the spring trap and deactivated all our traps the hard way. After that was over, I helped Noah and Andy set up the tents while Jenn cared for my wife’s knee with the First-Aid kit we had brought. She was up, and walked over to me.
“Wait a minute! There wasn’t any miracle cures in that kit, were there?”
“No.”
“Then you made me carry you all that way, for nothing!!”
