The next morning we got up and dressed. Leaving the apartment building we ran into Noah and his wife Kate.
“Hey, you, get over here!” He said.
“What do you want!” I said, coming over to him.
“Nothing, it’s just that you’re walking in a no-walking zone.” He stated, slipping a piece of paper in my pocket.
“A no-walking zone!”
“Yeah, but I’ll let you go this time since you new here. Don’t let it happen again.” I left him and went back to Carrie. We went outside the door.
“What was that all about?” Carrie asked.
“Noah planted a note on me while he was pretending to scold me.”
“Oh, what does it say?”
“Not here, someone might be watching.” We moved into a side street.
“What does it say?”
“‘The Dastardly Duo will try to rob the First National Bank on Tuesday.’ It’s signed Andrew Tucker.”
“So, you now know through normal means where to find the DD. You know, something bothered me when I read your story.”
“What was that?”
“Well, right after the part about the plans the story addressed me.”
“Addressed you?”
“Yeah, first it said hi. Then it told me not to read any farther.”
“Why not?”
“Something that would cause you not to enact the plan, and that the plan was too important for you not to enact.”
“That’s odd.”
“I didn’t read it.”
“Good. What ever it is, if I think that I will change my mind if I hear, then I probably will.”
“Right. What shall we do for the next few days?”
“What do you people do for fun?”
“Go to the 80’s place.”
“The 80’s place?”
“Yeah. It’s the place where capitalism was at its strongest before President Bill Clinton turned us over to socialism. It’s the last place of true prosperity.”
“Wow! Let’s go then.” I said. Walking to this place I saw the First National Bank. Over by it was a construction site. “Darling, what’s going on over there?” I asked Carrie.
“It looks like there has been a break in the tunnels. That’s the repair crew.”
“When will it be fixed by?”
“Probably sometime next week. The repair crews are very inefficient in the twenty-first century.”
