Tuesday rolled around and it was the day for the big setup to capture the Dastardly Duo. Through a hot tip from a local, named Andrew Tucker, and reading ahead in my book, I learned that the DD was to rob the First National Bank on Tuesday. In order to catch them we staged a brilliant plan, which instead of thinking of, I read in the chapter of my book, which I finished in 1981. It told me their location, but I also heard it when Andrew Tucker told me. Hi Carrie!
Anyway, we went to the bank and put our people in position. Julie and her husband are inside as tellers, Ryan is getting a loan, Noah and Kate are outside, and Carrie and I are getting a mortgage, and Jenn is calling the police. Carrie, don’t read this part, or I might have second thoughts on doing it. Stop reading, and put it away. We went there ready to do combat. All was set. The Dastardly Duo came in the door.
Quickly we moved into action, turning around, we caught the DD by surprise. They, just as quickly, dashed out the door. Following we went past the tunnel that was being repaired. One of the two shot at the break. It tore open and the air and environment started sucking people out. The DD continued, but as we were chasing, Carrie flew toward the opening. Holding on to the sides of the break, she struggled to stay inside the complex. The rest of my team continued in pursuit of the DD.
I pulled with all my might, trying to pull my great-granddaughter from the break. She was slipping fast. I quickly grabbed her arm. "Well, I can see why you didn’t want me to read about this!" She said.
"Don’t worry, I won’t let you go."
"You must. If you don’t return to the past, you will never have any kids, you’ll never write the book, and you’ll never be able to stop the DD."
"But I just can’t let you get sucked into space."
"There’s no time to argue. Do it."
"No!" I exclaimed, pulling with all my might. The rest of my team started over. The vacuum overcame me. I let go of Carrie who fell out into space. All that remained of her was a memory and a belt clasp that I was holding.
"What happened??" Ryan said.
"Carrie. . .she’s gone!"
"What?" Noah said. "How?"
"The DD shot a hole in the break and opened it."
"Guys, guys. Adam is feeling extremely bad. Come with me, Adam." Jenn said. She took me back to my apartment.
"If only I had read ahead in that book."
"What book?"
"The book I read, I would have known this would happened."
"Let’s look at it now."
"No, I couldn’t bear to hear what just happened, again." She let me cry on her shoulder for a minute.
"You know, Adam, there is a way to stop Carrie from dying."
"How’s that?"
