moon 3 “To our new home, honey. The moon.” The vehicle blasted off and the extreme pressure that was experienced by the astronauts was practically non-existent in this time frame. I saw the Earth shrink and the moon enlarge. The vehicle came to a landing and we exited. We were inside a tunnel lover’s paradise. As long as you weren’t claustrophobic, you were okay, I guess. The moving sidewalk took us to an apartment complex, which we went inside.

“Good afternoon.” A robot behind the desk said. “How may I help you?”

“Hello. My husband and I would like room 215.”

“And your names please.”

“Carrie and Adam Schofield.”

“Thank you, madam. Have a nice day.’ Carrie reached down and picked a card out of a slot. We went to the elevator, arms around each other, since that was the custom.

“Has the male species been overruled by the female?”

“Almost. You know. I don’t think it was always this way.”

“I should hope not.”

“No, I think it’s one of the Double D’s time rips.”

“Well, I’m the head of this family!” I said.

“Here we are, darling. You use this card in this slot to open the door.” The door slid opened and we walked inside. This room looked even more futuristic than the one in the lab.

“I have one question.”

“What is that?”

“Well, if I’m stuck here for longer than I’m needed, will I age?”

“Huh?”

“Well, how will you return me to the age I was in my time?”

“I don’t know. We had better ask Ryan.”

“Where is he?”

“He was in the lobby.”

“Oh. I’ll go talk to him.” I said, going down the elevator. Arriving at the bottom floor I posed the same question.

“Here.” He said, giving me a spray in the shoulder. “This will not let you age for a year. Hopefully you’ll be done here by then.”

“I won’t age!”

“Yes, but only for a year. This drug can only work once.”

“Oh, so everyone here is one year older than they really are?”

“No, just the ones who can afford it.”

“Well, thanks.” I said.

“Take this also,” He said, handing me a small gadget.

“What’s this?”

“Use it if you need to get me.”

“Oh. Okay, see you around.”

“Hopefully not. Carrie will fill you in on who the rest of your contacts are.” Ryan stated, leaving. I went back to my room and entered, using the card. Carrie had changed out of the clothes that she had came in. She was wearing a cotton like pair of pants with a mini-skirt over top. The mini-skirt was connected to a full suit that went all the way up to her shoulders where it ended giving full view from her shoulders to her neck, and v-necked like a v-necked sweater.

So, it’s taking much longer than I thought to publish this first story.  And I have an idea of something I really want to do on this site with tossing a story back and forth with another author.  But it’s not fair to our characters to just leave them stranded in the middle of chapter 11 wondering what will happen.  I mean, this is one of the most fun parts of this story– where Adam uses his own book to figure out how to beat the bad guys!

So, from here on out, the main story will go a page a day (no more MWF) until it’s done, even though we may start a new adventure in the middle.

Will that confuse you?  Is anyone reading this still?  Is that just my own echo?

MPP - Carrie Chapman “Now Adam, if you and Carrie will come to the next room, we will get the marriage papers and all in order.”

“Fine.” I said. Turning to my left, I saw my wife get up, “After you.” She stood up, and I held out my arm.

“What’s this for?”

“It’s for me to escort my darling wife into the next room.”

“Escort? What’s that?”

“Here,” I said, showing her. “You put your arm between mine and my side, then rest it on my arm. There we go.”

“How odd. We had better not do that outside, people will wonder about us.”

“Wonder, why?”

“Because, we don’t do that anymore.”

“What do you mean, chivalry is dead?”

“No, we just express it in different ways.”‘

“How so?”

“Well, if a guy really loves a girl, he’ll buy matching clothes, he’ll hold her hand, or he’ll put his arm around her back.”

“Okay, which do you want to do?”

“I prefer the hand, but this escort thing is nice. We can do this until we get to our apartment.”

“Where exactly is that?”

“Alpha colony.”

“Alpha colony?”

“On the moon. They have established a network of tunnels covering the moon making it habitable.”

“The moon, wow!”

“That’s the last place they had been spotted.” She said. We entered the room.

“Adam, I need you and Carrie to get dressed in these wedding clothes, in that room over there. Just press the button to switch clothing, Carrie demonstrate it to him.” Andrew said. Carrie entered a room. She pressed a button and was immediately transformed into the most curious bride’s outfit I have seen. I entered and changed. I can’t say much for the groom’s outfit, now that I have it on! He took our picture. We signed papers and he took our finger prints. Funny, but in their time, to be married a preacher had to be present, we would make our vows, and I would have been married to my great-granddaughter. Now that I’m thinking of it, if she had been born fifty years earlier, I would have married her!

My first glimpse of the outside world was about to come. The progress that they had made in a little over seventy years was astounding. I saw metal structures that were streamlined. There was a beautiful blue sky, and we were riding on moving sidewalks. I looked down to my right. There was green grass growing. “That’s good,” I said.

“What?” Carrie asked.

“The grass. For a second there I thought I was George Jetson!”

“Who? Never mind.” She said. The sliding sidewalk took us to a transport vehicle of some kind. We got in and the seat belts buckled us in.

“Where are we going?”
