“Well, I guess I can stay here tonight, but you must go topside and sleep in the new HQ.” I proceeded to give her directions.

“Must I go in these clothes?” She asked.

“I’ve got an idea. Marie, change clothes with Tracy and go back to her camp. Spend the night there, and in the morning, leave. By then, Tracy will be on our team, and she’ll make the perfect spy.”

“When should I come back?”

“In five hours.” I stated. They went to the cabin where Marie was sleeping, and changed clothes. Tracy came out in the brown swim suit, and Marie came out with the green uniform. Marie left the game and headed toward the enemy camp. It was midnight, and we were counting on a guess that Dan would not get up at five.

Meanwhile, Andy and Hannah approached the house. Once inside they searched it from top to bottom. They managed to grab some walkie talkies, and they returned to the HQ. Marie got to the camp, and Dan was too tired to tell the difference between the two girls. They slept easily.

Back in the game, Tracy and I started to walk along the beach. She had wrapped her arms around herself. “Boy, it sure is cold!” She said.

“Here,” I said, putting my coat on her. “You know, you really ought to get some sleep.”

“Sleep, how can I sleep?” She asked.

“Let’s go over to the cabin.” I suggested. We went there, and inside was a nice soft bed. “Here we are.” I said. She got in it, taking my jacket off. “Now it’s time for Daddy to tuck you in.” I said with a smile. I did so, and then took a seat on a chair. I sat there and watched her for a while. Then I picked up and started writing that book of mine. Let’s see: The Mystery of the Purloined Palette, Chapter 1: The Mystery Begins. That’s a good title, I thought. I wrote a couple chapters when Marie came pounding at the door.

“Adam, it’s five. Dan’s out getting the food, and Laura is on patrol. Now is the perfect time for the switch.”

“I’ll get Tracy up.” I said. I gently woke her up, and she changed with Marie. She went back to A’s HQ, and pretended to be asleep. “Marie? Could you be my liaison to Noah?” I asked.

“Better than that. Andy has managed to get four walkie talkies. We can have one here, at the HQ, and with two scout patrols.

“Great!” I exclaimed. I took the one she had. “Adam to Noah.”

“Noah here, Captain.”

“Cut it out, Spock, just have Scotty lock in on my coordinates. Two to beam up.”

“Very funny, Adam. Dan and Hannah had little to no resistance getting into the house last night.”

“That gives me an idea. I want Andy, Hannah and Jacie to go to my room and barricade themselves in. They can use the window as the way out in and in. Tell Andy to let Jacie take the walkie talkie and keep in touch with you, since you and her probably slept all night.”

“Yes, Andy had look out.”
