Country Church The next morning, they packed me up, and shipped me home. Tracy rode with me all the way there. Once there, I was helped inside by Tracy, and the hospital people left me in her immediate care. I was put to bed, in my own bed, and listened to the Sunday service over the radio. Steve Filby did a good job. Tracy came to me day and night for the rest of that week, nursing me back to health. I was finally fit enough to go to church on Sunday.

I got up Sunday morning, and stretched. Tricia was back, and Noah and Laura were due back within the week. I went to the bathroom to do the necessities, and Tracy came out of her room. She straightened my tie, and I thanked her. We then went downstairs, where Karin had prepared a giant breakfast. “Karin, you’re food beats hospital food any day.”

“Why thank you, sir.” Karin responded.

“Let’s dispense with the ’sir.’ After my experience on that island, that term bugs me.”

“All right.”

“My dear, today will be the first time I’ve been out in a week. I might as well take up permanent residence in the hospital!” I said to Tracy, reaching over to kiss her. We kissed.

“Darling, I don’t want you always in the hospital, I want you with me.” She said.

“‘Your wish is my command!’” I stated. “Dave, you and Karin take the Buick this morning, I want the Horizon.”

“Whatever you say.” David replied. We finished our breakfast, and I went to get my trench coat. I put the lining in it, and put it on. I also got Tracy’s jacket and helped her with it. We went out to the Horizon, and I drove us to the church. I wrapped my arm around Tracy, as we entered. We walked in and seated ourselves for Sunday School. The Pastor spoke on the Israelite Kings, and afterward, came to talk with me.

“I’m glad to see you’re looking better, Adam.”

“Why thank you, you don’t look too bad yourself!”

“You would think so, but with this back and all, I’m lucky to get up in the morning.”

“That’s what you get from all that basketball.” I commented, and we all laughed. I turned to go upstairs when I heard someone call my name. It was Mrs. Reynolds, our music director.

“Adam, I’ve got an idea for a quartet. Could Tracy and you sing with Noah and Laura?”

“Me, sing?”

“Yes, you.”

“Come on, Adam, it might be fun.” Tracy prodded. She now had her arm through mine.

“I don’t know if I can still sing, what part did you say?”
