Arriving back at my house, Noah and girls talked David into going with them, in the morning, to the island. They each took a room, and they were very glad for the nice warm beds of my house. Noah slept on the couch so that the girls would not be alone. Plus, his house would remind him of Laura, who he didn’t want to remember amongst so many beautiful girls. His dreams were filled with images of her, though.
The next morning, they all woke up and Karin prepared breakfast. A shorter line was at the bathroom door than usual, because Noah was wise enough to ask Karin to borrow theirs. The girls finished breakfast early and went wandering about the house while Noah, Karin, and David talked about their plan of attack. “Well, should we go during the day or at night?” David started.
“I don’t know. Both have their own advantages. Whichever we do, I don’t think that we should ask too much of the girls. I mean, the last time, Adam asked the girls to infiltrate the ranks and they got kidnapped.”
“But no one was there when you left.” Karin stated, getting back to the trip.
“True, but if Steve’s there, you can bet he’s not the only one. I wouldn’t put it passed him to take some girls along for the ride! Has there been any word from the others– Adam, Andy, or Craig?”
“No. I’m beginning to get worried– I mean– Laura wasn’t in Nome!” Karin replied.
“I know,” Noah said, “I wish– Well, never mind.”
“Let’s go during the day. That way the girls will feel safer because we all can see each other.” David injected.
“I still don’t understand why you have to take them all with you,” Karin started. “You only need one to show you around. I mean, your plan to stay together as it is.”
“That’s a good point.” David added. “What do you think of leaving three here? Karin could look after them, and three of us are a whole lot more mobile than six.”
“Here they come now. I’ll ask them.” The four girls bounded into the room.
“Hey Noah, Connie found a pool downstairs. Can we go swimming?” Jocelyn asked, exuberantly.
“I don’t see why not, but first I have a question for you,” Noah said. “What do you think of only one of you going with the two of us? That way we can move around quicker with three of us, and the other three could stay here with Karin.” The four girls looked at each other, frightened.
“Noah, that place is scary.” Sara started.
“Yeah.” Jessica added. A long pause followed.
“I’ll go.” Connie whispered.
“What was that?” Noah inquired.
“I’ll go. I know my way around and– well–”
“Okay then. We leave first thing in the morning. Hopefully you know some good hiding spots so that we can’t be seen in the daylight?” She nodded her head. “Then enjoy the day here. There are horses outside, if you want to go riding, a pool downstairs, and Karin will take you into town if you want to go shopping.” Leaning over to David, Noah whispered, “Adam won’t mind getting these girls new clothes!” Noah grinned. The girls were extremely giddy, and they decided to go shopping first. Seeing as the only clothes they had were the ones they were wearing and the swimsuits brought back bad memories, this seemed like the best strategy.
