“Huh? Oh. Okay… Laura said that as a reward you get a few days off, so enjoy.” The guard responded. Connie thanked her and left the room.

That night, around the dinner table, Noah’s contact saw him and approached him, “Well, it looks as though I didn’t have to scream after all.”

“Well, we found Laura,” David said.

“I should’ve known that she’d be running the place,” Noah commented.

Beth “Yeah, well I thought that it was kind of odd for you to be asking to see her. Oh, I’m sorry. I forgot to introduce myself. My name is Beth.”

“Mine’s Noah, and his is David,” Noah responded.

“Pleased to meet you. Now, do you still want to get Laura?”

“How could we do that?” Noah questioned.

“Yeah, and what about Steve?” David asked, “We can’t just let him get away!”

“I’ve got a plan. A few girls and I have been planning an escape–”

“I thought that all that wanted to escape, escaped with Adam and I little while ago.”

“No. There were some in the main building, and after you made it out he deprogrammed us. Now he uses guns and knives and a few of his elite guards, of whom Connie, the girl you were with, is one.”

“You mean that she really did bring us here as a trap?!” Noah asked.

“I wouldn’t put it passed–”

“HEY!! Stop all of that talking over there!” A guard pointed a gun towards them. Silence filled the air. The guard resumed her seat. As soon as she was looking the other way, Beth scribbled something down on a napkin and put it in Noah’s pocket.

Dinner was over, and each went their separate ways. “What did she give you?” David whispered.

“I don’t know.” He said, unfolding the napkin that had been in his pocket, “It says: Meet me in my tent, A-64, after lights out.”

“She wants you to meet her?!”

“She probably means both of us.”

“Oh.”

“I wonder what she– Oh, let’s just go to our tent and get some rest until then.” They went to a guard and said, “Excuse me, but where do we sleep?”

“Noah Prescott, A-80. David Schofield, A-32,” The guard replied. The two wandered toward their tents.

“I’ll go see Beth,” Noah volunteered.

“Okay,” David replied. His tent came first, so he entered, and Noah continued to walk until he found A-80. Lifting the tent cover, he walked inside. Spying an empty bed to the right, he felt his way, in the dark, over to it and sat down. Not seeing a light, he laid down his head, setting his watch.

He heard his alarm go off minutes later. Getting up, he left the tent and looked for A-64. Finding it, he opened the flap. A figure inside jumped. “You scared me,” it whispered.

“What do you want?” Noah asked.

“Not here. Let’s go to the beach,” it said. She started to step out, and Noah helped her. “Ouch!”
