The Wild, Wild West?? – Page 5

“All right.” Kristin said. “Could we go swimming?”
“Only if you ask Karin to come and watch you.”
“Great!!” Kristin said. They dashed off into the kitchen, and you could hear them asking her. Kristin agreed, and they all ran upstairs to get ready. Tracy and I headed for the couch by the fireplace. We sat down, and I put my arm around her, and she put her head on my shoulder.
After a few minutes, the two girls darted down the stairs and into the basement, wearing bathing suits and towels. Karin followed, clothed like them. “That Kristin’s something, isn’t she?”
“She sure is. I can’t wait until she’s our daughter.”
“Why?”
“Well, you’re a very good father, but Kristin needs a mother’s influence.”
“Now wait, are you saying women are better at raising kids than a man?”
“Kind of. That’s our job.”
“Try telling that to Laura, you’ll get your head bitten off. I’d better go check on my daughter and her friend. Care to join me?”
“I’d be delighted.” Tracy said, giving me her hand. “When’s the next time we’re going into the Old West?”
“Well, with the new case and all, I don’t know. We might not get in until we solve it.”
“That’s too bad.”
“Although, you could go in anytime you like. Take Kristin and Katie for an outing some weekend, they’d love it!”
“Maybe.”
“And it doesn’t have to be the Old West, it could be anywhere you want. Just tell me, and I could arrange it.”
“I guess I could try it.”
“Great. Now here we are, the basement. Look at them.” I said, looking in the glass at the pool. “Youth and innocence.”
“Well, at least youth.” Tracy said, looking at me.
“Would you like to go in?”
“Only if you come in too.” I agreed, and we both went and got our bathing suits, and went in the pool. I walked around in water, not swimming. Time came for us to go to sleep, so I called them all out of the pool, and off to bed.
The next morning, we got up, and dressed in our Sunday best. I dropped Katie back at her house, seeing as she went to a different church. Today was the assigned date for Tracy and I to sing in the Morning Worship Service. We performed the best we possibly could, and was complimented by the many people in the church. We then went home and ate. “Kristin, you should invite Katie to youth group tonight.:
“Good idea, Dad. I’ll give her a call right now.” Kristin said, going to use the phone. A little while later, Kristin came back saying, “She can’t come. Her parents don’t want her going to a Baptist church, seeing as she’s a catholic.”
“Swell. Well, let’s continue to pray for her.” I said. The evening service came and went, and soon it was time for bed.
