“Could be. I’ll tell you what, I’ll feed Laura everything Tricia had for breakfast and see if that makes her not affected by my formula.”
“Okay. Tricia, what did you have for breakfast?” I asked her.
“I had some cereal, and a glass of milk.” Tricia said.
“She had some cereal and a glass of milk.” I told Noah.
“Why kind of cereal?” Noah asked. I turned and asked Tricia.
“Rice Crisp.” I said.
“And what did they say to her?”
“Noah, cut it out.”
“Okay, I’m making Laura eat and drink those things now. Nothing’s happening.”
“Oh, I also had a grapefruit.” Tricia told me.
“Noah, she also had a grapefruit.” I repeated.
“Okay, here goes the grapefruit.” He said. All of a sudden I heard some yelling on the other end of the line. “Ow. I think you’ve found it. I’ll call you back when it wears off. Ow. Bye.” Noah said. I hung up the phone and returned to the sofa.
“Tricia, can you go and by some grapefruit at the C&P.”
“Okay … dear.” The grapefruit wore off, and Tricia came at me, sitting on my lap. “But I would much rather stay and be with you.” Tricia said, seductively.
“I don’t believe it.” Karin said.
“Well, don’t just stand there, get some grapefruit.”
“Right,” Karin said. She returned in a minute, and by that time, Tricia had begun to hug and kiss me.
“Tricia, dear, have a bite of grapefruit,” I said. Tricia did, and she immediately snapped out of it.
“What am I doing on your lap!?” She asked.
“You don’t want to know. Now, please go to the supermarket before the grapefruit wears off again.” She got up, and went for the door. “Don’t forget to eat some before returning!” She left.
“I knew grapefruit was good for you, but I didn’t know it was that good!” Karin stated.
“Let’s just hope that grapefruit is not on the menu for tonight’s meal at Amanda’s!”
“Right!” Karin agreed. The day passed on, and Tricia returned with as many grapefruits as she could fit in her car. We loaded them into the house.
Night-time came and I went to Amanda’s house. Once I walked in the door, Amanda ran to my side. She wanted to go somewhere so we could be alone, but I told her that I was here to eat, and that I was hungry. We went and ate, and then went to her living room where a fire was burning. We sat on a sofa, and looked into the fire. Amanda snuggled close beside me, and she asked me, “Adam, let’s pack our things, skip the country, and get married.”
“You want to elope?!”
“Why not? I hear it’s exciting, plus it will be just you and I.”
“But Amanda, I’m engaged.”
“Not for long!”
“What do you mean?”
“I mean that at this moment, your girlfriend and daughter are about to fall into a trap, and they will never be seen or heard of again.”
“If you love me, you will tell me where they are.”
