I drove back to my house, and when I returned, I opened the door. Tracy came over and greeted me with a hug. “Hiya doll.” I said.
“Doll?” She responded.
“How’s about you and me go undercover and see what the word on the street be?”
“Adam, how come you’re speaking like that?”
“Just yes or no, see. Or I’ll have to show you my violin case!” I responded.
“Sure, I guess.”
“Good, get that no good cousin of mine on the phone, doll.”
“Okay.” She replied, getting Noah on the phone. “Noah, Adam wants to talk with you.”
I grabbed the phone away from Tracy, and started to talk into it. “Hello, you good for nothin’. How’s your new maid?”
“Fine, Adam, what’s up?”
“I need to go undercover to get the word on the street, see, but I’m gonna need some muscle.”
“I’ve got just the people. Got a sheet of paper?”
“Sure do.” He proceeded to give me the names and numbers of shady characters and others that might be interested in getting in. I gave them a call, and told them to meet me at my house at eight. It would be a long night. Tracy and I decided to eat in.
Eight came around, and my “muscle” arrived. Their names were Joel Swindell, Ben Findley, and Clay Dadd. They came complete with suits and ties, with what seemed like guns in their coats. I put on a matching suit, picked a flower for a boutonniere, and went upstairs. David volunteered to make me up, and Karin did Tracy. We came out, Tracy looking about the same, but a lot more seductive, and I was changed into a person with black hair, etc. Going out to my car, we rode over to the sleazy side of town and went into a night club.
Once I entered, I snapped my fingers, and Clay and Joel took my coat, and went to hang it up. I escorted Tracy over, taking someone’s flower, and handing to her. “Her you go, doll.” I said.
“Hey man, didn’t you know! That look went out with the 40’s.” Some punk said.
“Are you talking to me?” I asked. “Joel, are they talking to me?”
“I sure hope not boss.” Joel said. As Joel and Clay surrounded this guy, with their hands in their coats.
“Oh! No sir, I wasn’t talking to you.” He said, in a panic.
“I thought not.” I went over to a nearby table, and sat down.
“I’ve gotta go powder my nose.” Tracy said, in a high squeaky voice. A gentleman walked over and sat down next to me. Clay and Joel were standing on both sides of the doorway, and Ben was sitting near the stage.
“Hello, sir.”
“Hello.” I replied.
“Are you here for the show, or is there something else you had in mind?”
“My girl and I came for the show, but I could be persuaded to do something else. What did you have in mind?”
