At church that night, I again ran the Sound System, and then told Mrs. Reynolds that I would try to sing in the quartet. She was delighted, and gave me some music to work on right away. After church, I telephoned Mrs. Foster and told her that it was highly doubtful that I would make practice for the first part of the week, and I explained why. She understood, and I said that I would get a sub for those days I was gone. I then called Sam Walker who agreed to sub for me. We went to sleep that night, knowing that the next few days would be grueling.

1056260_airplane_ The next day, Noah and Laura came home. We went to meet them at the airport. “Flight 103 from Flagstaff, now exiting at Gate A,” came the voice over the intercom. Grabbing Tracy’s arm, I headed for that gate. Noah and Laura came down the ramp, both looking terribly distraught.

“I never want to go on another trip with you again!” Laura said.

“It’s not my fault that you got into an argument with that man in the seat next to us.” Noah started.

“Well, he asked for it. What nerve, telling me a woman’s place is in the home!”

“But, isn’t it?”

“Now don’t you start– unless you want to sleep in the den for the rest of your life.”

“All right, all right. Oh, hi Adam. What’s up?”

“Not much. Ready to leave?”

“Leave, we just got back!?”

“True, but we have no time to waste if we want to capture those people from the B&O.”

“Really, what’s your plan?”

“Not here. Go home, and meet me at my house at one.”

“All right.” Noah said, turning to get his luggage. Tracy clung to my arm as we went to the car.

“Where are we going?” She asked.

“To pick up some items we made need on this trip.” I said. In a little while, we were at Erb Phillipsons Air Force and Marines store. We entered the building and went to the camouflage section. “Ah, here we go, camouflage.”

“Camouflage, for what?”

“For our raid!” I said. We paid for eight pairs which had the label “One size fits All” written on it. We then went to women’s clothing store. I parked the car outside the store and gave Tracy the following instructions. “I want you to go in there and pick out a bikini of relatively light color for you, Laura, Tricia, Stacey and Marie.”

“What for?”

“Just do it!” I ordered. She went in, and came out with a bag, in which I thought the merchandise was in. We then went to my house, where I telephoned Tricia, Stacey, and Marie and Andy. We all were to meet at one.

One o’ clock rolled around, and we all met at my house. “Here is what we’re going to do. I want all you girls to go in the other room and put on the bikinis that Tracy has purchased. I now that they’re tacky, ugly, and probably don’t fit perfectly, but we need them for our plan. Over top of them, put on the camouflage clothing I have. As soon as that is completed, come in here and get your face and neck painted. Men, get camo, then paint.”

island “Did he say anything about an island?”

“Yes, he did!”

“Do you know where it is?”

“No, but I think he has a map.”

“Tiffany, if Aunt Tracy and I were to come over, could you get us a copy of that map?”

“Copy, I can get you the real thing!”

“Okay, meet us at your neighbor’s house in five minutes.” I said ‘bye’ and hung up. “TRACY!” I called. She appeared. “Come on honey, we’ve got a lead!” I said. I ran to the closet, grabbed my trench coat, put it on and went out the door.

I drove us to Tiffany’s neighbor’s house. While driving, Tracy asked, “What was that about an island?”

“Well, Tracy, I didn’t want to open old wounds, but that’s where you we taken when you were kidnapped. There you were programmed to kill me.”

“Kill you?! I could never do that.”

“Well you almost did, but let’s let the past be the past. Right now, we’ve got to get the location of that island from Tiffany.” We arrived at Tiffany’s neighbor’s house, and like clockwork, Tiffany came out. I got the coordinates off the map, and returned it to her. She went back in, and I promised her that she come over some time in the near future.

Returning to the house, I went in and found the coordinates on my map. There was no island located there, but that’s probably why it was chosen. The phone rang and Tricia answered it. She came into the library, where the map was, and said, “That was the doctor on the phone, he says that Jacie’s fever is breaking, and she’s coming out of her coma!”

“We’ve gotta get down there right away!” I said.

We got in the car and arrived at the hospital at four. I was the only one permitted to see her. “Jacie, how are you?” I said, clutching her hand.

“How do I look?”

“Like you’re tired.”

“Then that’s how I am.”

“Jacie, who did this to you?”

“I don’t know. I went to bed, and I heard a noise from inside the closet. Two men came out and grabbed a hold of me. They pulled on the wig, tearing it off. They swore, beat me a couple of times, forcing me to tell where Tracy was. The next thing I knew, I was here.”

“Did you tell them?”

“If I hadn’t, you wouldn’t be talking to me right now!” She said, coughing.

“Get some rest, I’ll send someone in to stay with you. You can stay at my place, once you’re feeling better, and don’t worry, they’re going to pay!” I stated. I left the room, and returned to the waiting area, and talked to Hannah. “Hannah, could you go in and keep Jacie company? Once she’s well enough, take her to my house. I have a score to settle with some people on an island!” I stated. Hannah agreed. Tracy and I went home to change, then to church.

Country Church “Tenor, and Tracy could sing Soprano.”

“I’ll tell you tonight.” I told Mrs. Reynolds. Tracy and I went to the balcony, and went inside the Sound Room.

“Adam, I can’t do it this morning, my wife, Martha’s, got Junior church, and won’t let me come up.” Steve whined.

“That’s no excuse, Steve.”

“I know. Well, see you.” He said.

“Well, it looks like it’s you and I this morning, Tracy.”

“I don’t know. Should I stay up here?” Tracy said, with a grin.

“Well, either you do, or I do a solo!” I said, coughing.

“Where did that come from?”

“I don’t know. I hope it’s the only cough I have.” I commented. We performed pretty well, for not having done it in weeks. After the service finished, we went downstairs. Talking with a bunch of people, we turned around and went for home.

Once there, we sat on the sofa, my arm around her. Tricia came in and sat in a nearby chair. “Tricia, what did you find out about the Building and Loan?” I asked.

“Not much, the branch’s main office has closed, and therefore all the branches are folding. It sounds like a cover up to me.” Tricia responded.

“True. It must of been something I found out while I was on that island.”

“What island?” Tracy asked.

“Oh, nothing, dear. Could you go and see when Karin will have lunch ready?”

“Certainly.” Tracy said, getting up to go in the Kitchen.

“Tricia, she still doesn’t remember the island, and I haven’t told her about it.”

“Good idea.”

“I seem to remember Stacey saying that she was to find her husband, when she didn’t have one.”

“So?”

“So, I think that it has something to do with wealthy people.”

“Then why don’t we get the police in on this?”

“Because it’s just circumstantial evidence.”

“Then what must we do?” Tricia asked.

“I think we’ve gotta go to the island.”

“When you say we, you mean you and who else?”

“Well, I’m hesitant to take Tracy, but. . .”

“Adam, you’ve gotta take her. If you leave her alone for too long, she may suffer mentally.”

“Oh, all right. There is but one problem, I don’t know where the island is. There is only one who does: the pilot. She’s probably far, far away.” The phone then rang. I got it and said, “Hello?”

“Hello, Uncle Adam.”

“Yes? Tiffany?”

“Yes, my cousin Steve is here babysitting.”

“So?”

“So, he was talking about you and Aunt Tracy.”

“Really, what did he say?”

“He yelled at someone on the phone, telling him to close shop everywhere.”
